I first met Edwin as a young apprentice at the Atomic Energy Establishment at Winfrith in Dorset. Little did I know at the time that he would become my father-in-law when I married his eldest daughter Andrea. He helped me as an apprentice as he worked in a part of the Winfrith site known as "Special Techniques" Building A22. They made specialist Electrical/Electronic equipment for the site. I was tasked by the foreman to make a 240 volt step down transformer, I didn't have a clue where to start, but Edwin quietly took me aside and told me how to calculate the winding's required and helped me setup the winding machine. I was able to make the mains transformer first time thanks to him. Keith Hawker
